"Hair, what groups are behind this?" I haven't done my job very well......... USGBC, LEED and the OSBA is a great start. I asked a long time ago WHO starts these conversations about new schools.....where does it originate? No reply. I read all the time here that we need new schools because of maintaining old schools, but the big push for schools really is for environmental sustainability. Then AGS mentions a more open school layout for the 21st century worker. Folks poo-poo the idea that Agenda 21/ICLEI, Comprehensive Plan, USGBC and LEED is the guiding force behind these schools ETC. I argue that we are swimming in it. The forest for the trees? Ultimately it will be a vote, but people have got to know who is "facilitating" this for us.
When it doesn't make any sense to do something, but there is HUGE support from facilitators and organizations to do it, you can smell the rat from miles away. There are motives , that I believe, would blow our minds.
Thanks for the civics Cicero....and you're right. Sadly, like Congress, local governments have farmed out, or signed over their authority(s) to UNelected boards and managers. We haven't felt the full whipping this NON-representative system will unleash. Some are getting the full picture right now and it's scary. NONE will be exempt....not even the Facilitators.
What the h_ll is the "National School Climate Council"? You Cannot make this stuff up! Pennycuff is a member. Now you see WHY we must have new schools. School climate....some will argue it's not what it sounds like.
From the posts I've read so far here I can see that this new school proposal just does not make any sense. And when we hear the shrill cries for new schools in the face of common sense, I get suspicious.
This helped me a little........ U.S. DOE, Secretary Duncan, 2010 "Greening of the DOE" http://www.ed.gov/news/speeches/greening-d...nability-summit
The U.S. Green Building Council is working with school districts and universities to incorporate green technology into schools. These schools not only are good for the environment, they provide a better learning environment for students—and they are cost efficient. The council is bringing together the nation's strongest advocates for education—representing more than 10 million members across the country to build a national infrastructure of healthy, high-performance schools that are conducive to learning while saving energy, resources and money. I'm especially excited to hear that this fall the coalition will be reaching out to groups beyond education in the private and public sector. There's a federal role in supporting this work. We fund the National Clearinghouse on School Facilities, which is a national leader in helping K-12 leaders make school facilities green and sustainable
This is a boat anchor at the end of the stick. Not a carrot.
Chicago? Worst POTUS ever? Wow....Now we have to watch Obama like he's a cornered rat. He and his minions a liable to blow something up so he can blame the white, Christian and Patriot gun owners of his choosing. Stay frosty!
5 minutes later (seriously) I see this. Holder can't sleep at night for fear of "home grown" terrorists. Settin' the stage. http://www.infowars.com/ag-holder-says-hom...awake-at-night/
