I am looking for a really good recipe for chili to win a chili cook off that I am competing in at a Halloween party at the end of the month. I heard of maybe a tropical themed one using pineapples, mangos and pork.

Any suggestions?

If you plan on winning the thing you should have started working on last year.

Most folks that get into these competitons put their hart and soul into what they are creating.

When you get a recipe from somebody quite often something is left out (not by accident).

The biggest thing is have fun with it and in my opinion....

DON'T FRUIT THE CHILI !

you should be able to Google something up that is a contest winner. You can use that as a start and then tweak it some

I find that getting a recipe and then working on it or tweakn it is the best way to go.

My problem is its diffrent every time.

Also there is a chili contest up at the Back Door on the 30th of oct. also one at OLR on nov 21

Wow Phro you take this pretty seriously. This chili cook off is just for fun and bragging rights and there aren't that many good cooks in this group of people. I will start tweaking now, I have two weeks to get it right. If anyone has a hankering for chili, stop by our house because we will be having it a lot!

CB#1 one suggestion ... buy new spices if they have been around over a year...

I rarely share my recipes with others because of their overwhelming awesomeness. And, you should be a bit ashamed of yourself being a woman and not know how to cook chili. But, here it is anyway. I hope it brings you the winner.

Ingredients:

2 1/2 pounds Lean ground chuck

1 pound Lean ground pork

1 cup Finely chopped onion

4 cloves garlic -- finely chpd.

1 can (12 oz ea) beer

8 ounces tomato sauce

1 cup Water

3 tablespoons Chili powder

2 tablespoons Ground cumin

2 tablespoons beef-flavor instant bouillon

2 teaspoons Oregano leaves

2 teaspoons Paprika

2 teaspoons Sugar

1 teaspoon Unsweetened cocoa

1/2 teaspoon Ground coriander

1/2 teaspoon hot sauce -- to taste

1 teaspoon Flour

1 teaspoon Cornmeal

1 tablespoon Warm water

You're Welcome!

P.S. From what I've heard Phro starts out with a can of manwich and then adds three cups of Skyline chili to his pot. Then he calls it HIS recipe. dry.gifsad.gif Pretty sad when you think about it.

Woah Blighty, watch where you are going with that "all women should know how to cook" comment. I do know how to cook, actually I am rather good. Just ask my family who will agree. I was just looking for tips to make my recipe even better.

Thanks for the recipe and I will pretend you didn't make the silly "women" belong in the kitchen joke.
