I am in with Stone "Enjoy it by 4/20/16"

Stone Enjoy By 04.20.16 IPA

Devastatingly Dank

This is our own celebration of resinous green buds: Besides brewing this intense double IPA with more than 10 different hops, we hop-burst and dry-hop the beer to amp up its peach and tropical fruit notes and overall hop factor. Brewed specifically NOT to last, this devastatingly dank, golden beauty should be enjoyed by fellow hopheads within 37 days.

Double IPA

Hop Vatieties:
Nugget
Super Galena
Simcoe
Amarillo
Delta
Target
Cascade
Citra

I have the Revolution Brewing Company Jukebox Hero

Our black IPA is bursting with crisp, clean bitterness and layers of wonderful American hop character. Pale Ale, Munich and Naked Golden Oats give a toasty malt backbone with a smooth mouthfeel. The dark ominous color comes from the Chocolate Malt and the de-husked highly roasted malt. We want the layers of hops to shine against this roasty malt backdrop. Warrior, Citra, Chinook, Centennial and Amarillo lend bitterness as well as a wonderful cornucopia of aromas and flavors of fresh citrus fruit, pine, fresh cut mint and fresh flowers they offer.

India Pale Ale

ABV  7.5IBU  75

Profile: Double dry-hopped black IPA with layers of American hops that shine against a roasty malt backdrop.

An enjoyable, but somewhat blustery night....followed by just a blustery night was had by all in attendance at a first time

theme called Grab Bag Growlers.  There seemed to be a hue and cry to do this one again.  I agree, I just didn't at 4AM...but I digress

Big thank you to BeerBob, Mrs. Steinie, and Hammerin' Hank for hosting (as well as Otis, Stanley and Coallete).

There is a reason, early returns are subject to the morning after audit and this is a prime example.  The scoring actually went like this:

1) TMagee Oskar Blues Ten Fidy  49.5   5 Points

2 Tie) BeerBob Stone "Enjoy by 4/20/2016" 48   3 Points

2 Tie) WWW  Little Fish Stardust to Stardust  48  3 Points

3)  Cotts   Taft Ale House Caruso 47.5    1 Point

4) Phro  Triple Digit Chickow   47

5) Uncle Revolution Jukebox Hero Black IPA  46

Extremely tight scoring, top notch brew across the board.   Good job guys on 6 really good selections.

TMagee has the helm for April, I assume weather permitting in the beer garden.  Prost!

Thanks BB and Co. for hosting. My win was bases on the high ABV of 10.5%. Always fun.

next month the thread is up - American Pale Ale - in the beer garden, under the lights.
