Winton Woods, now 4-0 with win over Royal Imperial Collegiate from Ontario, Canada in an unadvertised Saturday afternoon game.  The Enquirer has forgotten that there is even a football team.....yet the AP has WW ranked #4 in the State.

The Winton Woods Warriors are now 7-0 after traveling to Northeast Ohio and dismantling Canton Central Catholic 43-0..  CCC have been State Champs in Div. 4 and 5 in years past but were no match for this years version of WW football  (even after as someone put it "a 3 hour bus ride eating pizza and drinking fruit drink").  Hopefully that last part about the food served was just joking.

Next week, October 13th, is Homecoming at Winton Woods, so there's a parade and the Warriors host the Elder Panthers (who are just coming off a win over Mighty Moeller).  In other news LaSalle got beat by St. X and Anderson just "sqweeked" a win over unranked West Clermont in a high scoring game.  I'm sure the Enquirer will still consider them ahead of Winton Woods in the standing even if the rest of the state doesn't.  My contempt for the way local media covers these kids continues to grow.

Unfortunate Homecoming loss for the Warriors on October 13th.   Elder and Winton Woods were tied 28-28 at the end of regulation.  In a "sudden death" overtime, Elder was first to score making it 35-28.  Winton Woods then scored to make it 35-34 but the extra point hooked left and hit the upright with a sickening thud.  Final, 35-34.

Remaining two regular season games for Winton Woods:

October 20th AWAY at St. Francis De Sales (Columbus)

October 27th HOME  Moeller

Winton Woods upped their season record to 8 wins, 1 loss with 42-7 thrashing of St. Francis DeSales (Columbus).   Looking for details, but alas.....unless you are a GCL South team or located in Anderson Twsp. the Enquirer doesn't cover you.(Oh, and Anderson got beat by previously unheralded Milford....Anderson playing a very weak schedule is catching up with them).

The Warrior end their regular season at HOME with a match up with GCL South Archbishop Moeller.   Should be quite a game and might be  key in the Warriors Region 8 playoff position given Anderson's loss.

After a convincing win over Moeller on Friday night 35-14, the Winton Woods Warriors move on to the Division II playoffs as the #2 seed.  The Warriors begin their march to the State

Championship with a home game THIS FRIDAY against #7 seed Chillicothe (8-2), 7:30 Charlie Fredrick Field.  Let's Go Warriors !!!

In a first half that started out as a big  "ah-oh, this Chillicothe team came to play" kind of way, the Winton Woods Warriors managed to pull away in a BIG WAY winning

61-27  in the first round of the regional playoff.  They will meet their old FAVC rival Anderson next week in the second round, with Redskins winning 33-0 in their first round game.

The Warriors offense were led by Soph running back. Miyan Williams who was nearly unstoppable with 235 yards rushing and scoring 5 touchdowns (which I think ties a school record).

WOW !!!!!

After leading LaSalle 13-7 well into the 4th quarter, the Lancers go ahead with 2:00 minutes left in the game 14-13.  Winton Woods gets the ball and through a unbelievable series of plays manages to get the ball down to the 10 yard line with :06 seconds left and Yeri Valaquez kicks his THIRD field goal of the game to win the game 16-14.

Winton Woods now 1 of 4 Div.2 teams left in the State.  They will meet Massilon Washington HS next Friday.  The game apparently will be played at St. Francis DeSales HS field in Columbus
